Velocity Aircraft Gets Order for 20 Aircraft
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008Velocity, Inc., a leading manufacturer of home-built canard design airframe kits, today announced receiving a purchase order of 20 Velocity XL-5 aircrafts. Today’s announcement is the first major sales contract secured by Sebastian, FL-based Velocity, Inc., since their April 2008 acquisition by Rocket Racing Composites Corp., a division within Rocket Racing Inc., the parent company for the Rocket Racing League, the new entertainment sports league that combines the exhilaration of racing with the power of rocket engines.
Velocity’s XL-5 airframe is the same airframe being used for the Rocket Racing League’s Rocket Racers. The Velocity XL-5 is an easy to build, easy to fly, true high performance airplane with the ability to make 1000 NM + cross country trips while carrying up to five people and baggage in comfort — at speeds in excess of 200 mph.
“This 20-plane order is the culmination of six months of hard work by the Velocity team,” said Scott Baker, president of Velocity, Inc. “Since the acquisition by Rocket Racing Composite Corp., there has been a lot of interest and feedback from the public in Velocity, Inc. contributing to many of the technology advances that are planned for the Rocket Racer models. These new developments in performance and comfort benefit Velocity owners who use their aircraft for personal and business travel.” Based on the current momentum, interest, and customer feedback Velocity is currently developing and designing two new models to be introduced in 2009.
